The Production Manager will oversee day-to-day production activities, reporting to the Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will have proven success in managing multiple departments in a food production facility for maximum efficiency and productivity. They will be highly skilled in change and people management, budgetary and fiscal management, and take the initiative in developing our culture of health and safety, quality, technical standards, and diversity.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with demonstrable experience in building and developing high-performing production teams.
– Develop food production systems to improve productivity and service to customers.
– Lead, develop, and implement continuous improvement across the production environment.
– Maintain a safe production environment.
– Plan and organise production schedules, including labour demand planning.
– Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance the company’s internal capacity.
– Ensure production planning meets existing and future business demands, keeping activities on time and within budget.
– Manage staffing levels in line with budgetary and demand requirements.
– Oversee staffing rosters, weekly payments, and holidays for the operations team.
– Lead, motivate, and support a large team in a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including performance development plans for direct reports and problem resolution.
– Proactively manage the health and safety of the production floor.
– Lead and drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping through Good Manufacturing Practices and BRC.
– Manage the training and development of the production team.
– Introduce KPIs to drive performance.
– Support company values to ensure a positive culture that fosters good employee relationships.
– Minimum 5 years of proven success in a production management role, preferably within food manufacturing.
– Knowledge of ERP and MRP systems.
– Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management or a related field preferred.
– Understanding of Retailer and BRC Food Manufacturing requirements, with experience leading teams to achieve Grade A or above.
– Excellent people and organisational skills.
– Competent in using systems.
– Experience in financial budgetary processes.
